How Many Games Are There in a Major League Baseball Season
Major League Baseball (MLB) is one of the most celebrated sporting events in the country and it’s also the oldest among all major professional leagues in both the United States and Canada.
Each season, 30 teams—15 from the National League (NL) and 15 from the American League (AL)—compete in 162 games for each of the teams in a span of six months for baseball supremacy.
That’s a total of 2,430 games in one MLB season, plus some postseason highlights. Here’s what you need to know about the MLB season:

The farm system
All the teams in the MLB follow a farm system where potential players are scouted and nurtured at every stage until they become big league players. Teams usually hire scouts to watch amateur games and find good talent from high school and college programs in and outside the country.
These potential players are then trained throughout different stages of development until they are ready to become a part of an MLB team.
Team members
Each team on the MLB is composed of 25 players together with its coaching staff and an on-field manager. Every team also has its own General Manager (GM) that takes care of all the business responsibilities in the organization like drafting and trading players, assembling team members, negotiating contracts and many other tasks.
Playoffs and wildcard
After the regular games, the winners from each division will go up against each other in a championship playoff round along with a wildcard team, which is selected according to the best record among all non-division winners. The two winners from each divisional series would end up meeting for the championship series where the winner will be chosen to play in the World Series.
Players
Each team member is evaluated after every season to see if a player is still fit for that team or if he needs to be traded for another player. Evaluations are usually based on numbers like Runs Batted In (RBIs), Batting average, On-base Percentage (OBP), Home run and Slugging Average.
If you’re a baseball fan, these facts would definitely help you learn more about the sport you love so you can enjoy the games better and get to know your favorite players from the league.
